Minimuppet and I try a supply run, again in practice for an upcoming tournament.
This was really an order spam list, to try to run up, smoke out and run away. it worked fairly well. I thought it would be a decent list against a newer player, because it didn’t field anything more powerful than a combi rifle.
i really enjoyed this table, somewhat for the firing lanes, but also for the lack thereof, we treated all the cliffs as infinitely tall. I was thinking of the mayacast podcast general rule for terrain — always something within 4″. and it seemed to work very well. We treated the river as “beach” making it difficult (but only for me really, because Ariadna has multi-terrian all day long.
I went first, deployed first.
My first turn was relatively bloodless, spending 8 orders to move my left flanking triad into position with the tech coffin, taking the supplies and moving back into the deployment zone. I managed to kill 1 model with a combi rifle, and throw some smoke.
I purposefully left a Makaul up the board, to bait Minimuppet into spending some orders on it. I also thought it would have been fun if it impeteously ran into some people who would very soon be on the wrong end of a heavy flame thrower. Alas, it was shot by a rifle, and died the very next turn, but the tactic worked.
Minimuppet had a great first turn, he managed to open 2 of the coffers and move 2 of the supplies. If he’d had some luck in my active turn, he would have been very likely to win!
There was this great moment during the game, where my fireteam was moving up the board, skirting around a mysterious camo marker (SPOILER: it was a mine)
and a dog solider and his antipode stalked the little artichokes. the Kamael and the Kumotail were blasted with a chain rifle, failed their dodges, but managed a 16 and a 19 on their ARM rolls. The dog soldier would charge, to try to chain rifle them again, having both the Kamael and the Makaul successfully dodge/engage, and the Kumotail succeed as well. The poor antipode was left behind.
My active would have the makaul make good use of the new fireteam CC rules, and drop a close combat attack at -6 (MA 1, I-kohl 1) to the dog soldier, for a burst 2, damage 15 CC attack back. 4 BTS saves later, the dog solider was off the board.
The rest of the game was a lot of cat and mouse, where my fireteams, grabbed all the cheese and ran away.
Minimuppet had a good paramedic link going, where one doctor medi-kitted another doctor, who tried to medi-kit someone else up, but it was too late and too order intensive to make a difference.
good game, I look forward to more games with Minimuppet!
