tonight we tried out a small point, oddball custom mission i wrote up during a training seminar. (I swear I was paying attention!)
The mission focuses on one army trying to capture a tag, and another having a tag.
Not too far into the mission, and we started the realize that the victory conditions are a bit too swingy to make it a good scenario.
I had the TAG, and wanted to try out the new and improved Gorgos, but the game consisted mostly of a 5 man link of KTS shooting at it with blitzens, and the Gorgos shooting back with flammenspheres and a spitfire. (Which i forgot was now AP)
Since I choose initiative, thepoorman went last, giving him the last round, wherein he won the game. I was unable to engineer my way out of the isolation/immobilization a second time. From the pictures you might be able to see that I could have simply moved the Gorgos back out of line of sight, but it seemed a bit against the theme of the mission, and a wouldn’t make for much of a fun match.
the rules are below, but clearly need a revision, to make the game a bit closer.
•Secure Enemy Tag Wreak: Enemy Tag is in a null state by game end. (3 Objective Points)
•Secure Intact Enemy Tag: Enemy Tag is in an immobilized/possessed/stunned state by game end, posessing at least 1 str/wound. An unmanned TAG (use of expel program) would also count (5 Objective Points)
•Inspect Enemy Tag: Successfully inspect the Enemy Tag model. (2 Objective Points)
•Control more Consoles than the adversary at the end of the game (3 Objective Points).
•Secure Intact Friendly Tag: Friendly Tag not in a null, immobilized/possessed/stunned/unmanned state by end of game.(5 Objective Points)
•Amount of STR or Wounds friendly TAG possesses at the end of the game (1-3 Objective Points).
•Each player has 1 Classified Objective (2 Objective Points)
Both players will deploy on opposite sides of the game table, in a standard Deployment Zone 12 inches deep
INSPECT ENEMY TAG
•Only Specialist Troops can declare this Skill.
•The Specialist Troop must be in base contact with an Enemy TAG.
•Allows the Specialist Troop to make a Normal WIP Roll to Download the Data Pack. If the roll is failed, this can be repeated as many times as necessary, each time spending the corresponding Short Skill and making the roll.
Troops possessing the Engineer Special Skill have a MOD of +3 to the WIP Rolls necessary to Inspect Enemy Tag
Friendly Tag can be targeted by friendly attacks if it is in a unconsciousimmobilizedpossessedstunned state.
For the purposes of this scenario, only Hackers, Doctors, Engineers, Forward Observers, Paramedics and troops possessing the Chain of Command Special Skill are considered Specialist Troops.
Hackers, Engineers and Doctors cannot make use of Repeaters or G: Servant models to perform tasks reserved for Specialist Troops.
Remember: Troops with the Specialist Troop Special Skill can accomplish the different functions Specialist Troops have in this scenario.
A Specialist Troop with a Disabled Marker can still accomplish the Objectives of this scenario.
END OF THE MISSION
This scenario has a limited time frame, so it will automatically finish at the end of the third Game Round.
If one of the players starts his Active Turn in a Retreat! situation, the game will end at the end of that Turn.
