This time only a short report as the battle was fought two weeks ago, and only today the life gave me chane to write some hobby stuff.

Anyway, I had excelent list for the job (Djanbazans link against camo heavy opponent). I won the initiative roll, and chose to go first, I also was allowed to stay on teh better (in my opinion) side of the table. I deployed my troops for agressive ARO’s – I had two buildings in the deployment zone so put Shichab, Sekban HRL on one of those, and Djanbazans HMG and sniper on second. In first turn I rearranged them slightly (moved them outside my deployment zone) which allowed their LoFs cover all the table and overlap over most of the surface. The most unfortunate outcome of this turn the game was lose of two orders from main group, due to enemy use of command token.

In Turn 1 I decided to play my YuanYuans a bit differently to what I usually do. One of them entered in my deployment zone, the second from the edge on my left and close to enemy deployment zone (while still out of LoS of anyone willing to uncover himself). One of Yuans covered my Djanbazan link with smoke, while the one in front went hunting, covering his approach with smoke until last order before entering shooting range against Yuriko Oda. The Yuan was spotted by one of the enemy Raidens ocupaing a roof of nearby building. He shot, but missed and in return was taken down by Djanbazan HMG shooting from inside of the smoke cloud. That allowed forward Yuan to shoot Ms. Oda (who dodged successfully) and proceed against Karakuri who (which?) suffered one wound and killed the pirate. With last orders I decided to move one of the Hawwas who seized the central antenna and returned to camouflaged state.

The opponent started his turn with sneak attack of the ninja who crouched into range to shoot my Shihab with his bow. He tried twice missed first time (and passed armour test against HMG and sekban’s HRL), but dropped dead in second attempt in effect of critical hit from my REM. Then second Raiden tried his luck against Djanbazans (HMG and sniper), this action was partially successful – he died from HMG bullets, but one well aimed rocket covered the sniper with its template. Sniper burnt miserably. Losing all his long distance weapons KasCer limited his actions to slight movements outside my LoF, all in all he seized the antenna closes to his deployment zone with Yuriko Oda.

In turn 2 after mandatory Yuan’s movement, I’d pushed weight of the action on my AlHawwa, who until this moments stayed idle. He reached unconscious ninja and coup degrss’ed him (achiving secret objective), then jumped down, circled the building and killed Yuriko Oda, after that he returned under cammo and to safe position. Meanwhile the Djanbazan Hacker seized my closest antenna.
At this point I should start suspecting that something is wrong as Japs were very unwilling to move forward. In second turn they actually moved the Karakuri link (prone) and shot one shot into YuanYuan (who as impetues gal stayed in the open in the middle of the table), however, YuanYuan managed to smoke dodge while AlHawwa who was luckily in hacking distance from the robot made him freeze.

With third turn, two antennas secured and very favourable position I felt pretty confident, I wanted to get third antenna but to do so I had to deal with Karakuri and preferably a mine left by lately deceased Ms Oda. I started with Yuan yuan who approached Karakuri (the only one seeing her had to reset) and shoot them twice with CR recieving double CR shot in return), she died but also got one robot down and two others wounded. Then I ordered AlHawwa to immobilise remaining Karakuris before undertaking more lethal actions. Unfortunately dice were against me in this, I lost three or four orders with no success. Under those circumstances I decided to leave the third antenna, and secure the two I already had. To do that I moved my link to take position roughly 10” from the centre of the table. And left the board to my opponent.

And this is where I lost the game. KasCer reviled his ninja hacker in vicinity of central antenna, moved him, rolled 14 and left me a looser. Of course I killed the ninja (basically chopped him with the bullets) and managed to dodge with one of the AlHawwas to touch the antenna, that gave me nothing as there was nothing that Hawwa could react with a click. Untill end of turn KasCer moved last ninja (cammoed) towards my HVT in hope to secure her, but didn’t manage to achive that.

Final score: 6:4 YuJing

Very good report and really like the paint jobs on both sets of miniatures. This battle would have been a heart break. To basically loose because your normally reliable Hawwa couldn’t succeed on three WIP rolls that he should have made easily, that hurts. I agree that you had a good force for the job and that you played a good tactical game – sometimes the dice just hate you at the wrong time. Take heart in the J. Tenzer’s comment – no harms been done.

    If YuJing can make a win at a PanO-location I don’t count it as a loss for Haqqislam… 😉
